What is Helping Others Halfway Houses?

Helping Others Halfway Houses is a non-profit religious charitable organization based in Shreveport, Louisiana. We provide housing, job support, and compassionate guidance for those seeking sobriety and purpose including directing you to a number of faith-centered substance abuse recovery programs including CADA, New Day, Uprising, and other treatment centers.


Who founded Helping Others?

Helping Others was founded by Mark Heacock, with a vision to help individuals overcome addiction, restore faith, and rebuild lives. His leadership is rooted in love, service, and belief in God’s ability to heal and transform. Jimmy Rogers took over for Mark and continues to carry the torch.


How does your recovery program work?

Our recovery pathway consists of:

  1. Outreach and Intake – You contact us, share your story, and we assess your needs.
  2. 28-Day Substance Abuse Program – Structured daily routines, counseling, spiritual support, life skills, group encouragement provided by CADA, New Day, Uprising, or other local treatment center.
  3. Transition & Housing Support – After completing the program, we assist with stable housing and continued support.
  4. Employment & Reintegration – Job training and placement to help you sustain sobriety and build purpose.

Do I need to participate in a religious program to join?

Spirituality and faith are central to our mission, and participants are encouraged to engage in prayer, faith-based activities, and spiritual reflection. However, we focus on support, respect, and love rather than mandate. Our goal is helping, all people are welcome.


Who is eligible for the program?

  • Individuals struggling with drug or alcohol addiction.
  • Individuals seeking sobriety and willing to participate in structured recovery and spiritual support.
  • After completing a local 28-day program, individuals may be eligible for further housing and/or job placement support.

How long is the program?

Most core programs are around 28 days. During that time, you’ll receive counseling, spiritual encouragement, group support, and build a recovery foundation.
Afterward, there are options for continued housing, job assistance, and community support.


Is there a cost to participate?

As a nonprofit religious charity, we seek to make our services as accessible as possible.
